Brian C. Gwin, OTR/L, CHT

Brian C. Gwin has been an Occupational Therapist since 1982. After graduating from Florida International University, his career path has taken him from acute care while at Cedars Medical Center to working with chronic conditions within the pain management arena.

His interest in ergonomics and the study of job related injuries peaked in the late 80’s. Initially he was a research associate with the University of Miami Pain Program. He later served as practitioner and consultant within industrial rehabilitation services. Exposure to occupational medicine physicians and hand surgeons in the 90’s spurred a renewed focus on acute care as it related to hand/wrist and upper extremity orthopedic conditions. This completed his full circle in health care delivery.

He has been a Certified Hand Therapist since 2008.

Clinical upper extremity therapy is his primarily area of experience, as it relates to orthopedic conditions with both traumatic and cumulative injuries. He performs comprehensive hand and upper body evaluations and provides client centered clinical services as part of the team at The Hand Institute’s therapy department.

His interest in ergonomics continues. He incorporates it into the direct interventions at what he calls, “This very special place to work.”
